Album Notes & Community Reviews
American bandleader Spike Jones and His City Slickers recorded their classical parodies for RCA Victor in the 1940s, performing Rossini's 'William Tell Overture' on kitchen implements as a horse race and Liszt's 'Liebestraum No. 3' at breakneck speed on unusual instruments. 'Spike Jones Is Murdering the Classics' gathers twelve of these recordings, including 'Pal-Yat-Chee' with hillbilly duo Homer and Jethro and an abridged version of the 'Nutcracker Suite' arranged by Joe 'Country' Washburne with lyrics by Foster Carling.
