Album Notes & Community Reviews

This early compilation brilliantly showcases the gritty, intense sound that distinguished the Newcastle group from their pop-oriented British Invasion peers. Anchored by Eric Burdon's uniquely powerful, deeply soulful vocal delivery and Alan Price's driving Vox Continental organ, the collection heavily emphasizes raw interpretations of American blues and R&B standards. It serves as a definitive summary of their highly influential, heavily aggressive initial period.
