The Greatest Hits of Eric Burdon and The Animals

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Focusing entirely on the later, California-based iteration of the group, this compilation traces the singer's radical immersion into the burgeoning West Coast psychedelic counterculture. The collection highlights heavily ambitious, increasingly complex arrangements and drug-referencing anthems like 'San Franciscan Nights' and 'Sky Pilot,' vividly illustrating Burdon's remarkable transition from a gritty British R&B shouter to a deeply philosophical, acid-rock visionary.
