Album Notes & Community Reviews

Collecting singles and B-sides from a transitional period, 'Japanese Whispers' documents The Cure's drastic pivot away from suffocating gothic gloom towards bright, highly melodic synth-pop. Driven by Robert Smith's playful, romantic lyricism and surprisingly upbeat synthesizer hooks, the compilation stands as a bittersweet, deeply quirky pop revelation.
