The Drifters' Golden Hits

Album Notes & Community Reviews

This masterful compilation details the highly successful, heavily orchestrated 'second era' of the legendary vocal group under the guidance of producers Leiber and Stoller. Featuring the lead vocals of Ben E. King and his successors, the collection gathers sophisticated, Latin-tinged crossover hits like 'Under the Boardwalk' and 'Save the Last Dance for Me.' It serves as an essential blueprint for the elegant, heavily produced pop-soul sound of the early 1960s.
