Album Notes & Community Reviews

Assembled largely due to Pete Townshend's dissatisfaction with a previous singles collection, 'Meaty Beaty Big & Bouncy' compiles the bulk of The Who's explosive 1960s A-sides. The record charts their rapid evolution from aggressive mod-R&B anthems to the increasingly complex power-pop that preceded their full-blown rock operas. It remains one of the finest documents of early British invasion energy, highlighting a band operating at the absolute peak of concise pop perfection.
