Album Notes & Community Reviews

Compiled by Columbia Records to summarize the idiosyncratic pianist's highly successful 1960s tenure, this collection features vibrant studio recordings of his most enduring and heavily covered compositions. Driven by the remarkably cohesive swing of his legendary quartet featuring Charlie Rouse, the album perfectly encapsulates the leader's distinctively angular, deeply percussive approach to modern post-bop architecture.
