Album Notes & Community Reviews

Launching a massive archival series for Smithsonian Folkways, this volume collects the legendary folksinger's incredibly influential mid-1940s sessions recorded by Moses Asch. The collection highlights Guthrie's unmatched ability to deliver sharp, socially conscious union anthems alongside deeply melodic, plainspoken storytelling. It remains a foundational document of American political music.
