This Is Just a Modern Rock Song

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Arriving at the absolute height of their critical darling status, the Scottish collective presents a sweeping, seven-minute title track that wittily dissects their own musical identity and sudden fame. The lush, string-laden arrangements seamlessly support Stuart Murdoch's masterful, hyper-literate storytelling, capturing the band's delicate chamber pop operating at its most confident and ambitious. The release was crucial in establishing their formidable string of non-album, high-quality singles.
