Album Notes & Community Reviews

The notoriously abrasive debut from Steve Albini's foundational noise-rock project was recorded entirely by himself using a borrowed four-track recorder and a Roland drum machine. The piercing, metallic guitar scrapes and barking vocal delivery explore aggressively misanthropic and violent lyrical themes. It established the terrifyingly cold, uncompromising aesthetic that would define the band's legendary influence on underground music.
