Pop Culture

Album Notes & Community Reviews

The five-song EP 'Pop Culture' established Knocked Loose's signature sound, a volatile and aggressive fusion of metallic hardcore defined by heavy, driven riffs and Bryan Garris's distinct high-pitched vocal delivery. Arriving as the scene shifted toward a more violent and less melodic era of hardcore, the release became a foundational, DIY-spirited effort that propelled the band from the Louisville underground to national recognition. Its lyrical themes eschew metaphor for direct and sincere expressions of rage, personal turmoil, and disillusionment, setting a thematic precedent for the band's subsequent work.
