A single, 21-minute track, 'I' is one of the band's most experimental releases. The song was largely improvised in the studio by drummer Tomas Haake and guitarist Fredrik Thordendal, who recorded jam sessions and then later had to chart the chaotic, randomly structured drum tracks bar-by-bar to overdub the guitars. The EP was a special one-off recording for Fractured Transmitter, a label run by Jason Popson of the band Mushroomhead, which the band's primary label, Nuclear Blast, permitted. A remastered special edition was issued in 2014, including additional live tracks.
