Preceding the group's final dissolution and their final 'Mutiny!' release, this violently dark recording captures Nick Cave pushing his terrifying, Old Testament-inspired lyricism to terrifying new heights. The abrasive arrangements discard nearly all traditional post-punk structures in favor of horrific, swampy blues dissonance. The release heavily informed the sinister, narrative-driven aesthetic Cave would perfect in the coming decades.
