Album Notes & Community Reviews

Produced by Steve Albini and acting as the Chicago quartet's abrasive introduction, this debut fused the suffocating, mechanical thud of industrial rock with a deeply unsettling, southern gothic surrealism. Driven by David Wm. Sims' massive, distorted bass grooves and David Yow's unhinged vocal exorcisms, it formalized the sludgy, confrontational blueprint of 1990s noise rock.
