My Dear Melancholy,

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Surprise-released following a series of highly publicized relationship breakups, the massive pop star explicitly returns to the dark, shadowy alternative R&B that defined his early mixtape era. Produced alongside Gesaffelstein and Skrillex, the incredibly concise EP discards upbeat pop ambitions for remarkably cold, synth-heavy atmospheres and intensely vulnerable, self-destructive lyricism. It was widely acclaimed as a satisfyingly moody, deeply focused artistic reset.
