Azerbaijani Mugham

Azerbaijani mugham is the classical art music of Azerbaijan: a suite of modal improvisations, or dastgah, performed by a singer with tar, kamancha and daf over classical poetry. Masters from *Khan Shushinski* to *Alim Qasimov*, heard on "Love's Deep Ocean", sustain a tradition inscribed by UNESCO as a masterpiece of intangible heritage.
