Beat bruxaria

Beat bruxaria (funk bruxaria, 'witchcraft funk') is a São Paulo offshoot of baile funk that emerged in the early 2020s around the city's peripheral bailes, notably the Baile da DZ7 and Baile do Helipa. Producers such as *DJ K*, *DJ Arana* and *DJ Blakes* push the São Paulo mandelão style toward horror: distorted, clipping beats, the shrill whistle-like 'tuin' synth pitched to the edge of pain, sirens, screams and references drawn from metal and extreme electronic music. Where mainstream funk paulista is built for viral dance routines, bruxaria is deliberately abrasive and nocturnal, a favela counterpart to extreme club music.
