Bit Music

Bit Music

Bit music is music composed for, or in the manner of, vintage sound chips: the square waves and noise channels of the NES, Game Boy, Commodore 64 and arcade boards turned into instruments in their own right. Artists like *Anamanaguchi* pair those chips with live guitars on albums like "Endless Fantasy", while *Bit Shifter* and *Nullsleep* treat the Game Boy as a complete performance rig. Born from demo scenes and tracker culture, it is the electronic genre most directly descended from chiptune.
