Blackened Metalcore

Blackened Metalcore

Blackened metalcore is a fusion of metalcore with black metal, in which hardcore's breakdowns, d-beat drive and shouted vocals are combined with tremolo-picked minor-key riffing, blast beats, shrieked delivery and the cavernous, lo-fi atmosphere of black metal. It developed in the 2000s-2010s underground, largely in France, Belgium and the United States, through bands such as *Celeste*, *Oathbreaker* and *Young and in the Way*, often released by hardcore labels such as #Deathwish Inc.# and #Throatruiner Records#. The hybrid keeps metalcore's physical song structures while replacing its sheen with black metal's abrasion and occult or despairing imagery.
