Blues Rock

Originating in the mid-1960s through a transatlantic exchange, Blues Rock channels the structures and improvisational spirit of electric blues through the amplified power of rock. The genre is defined by a sonic texture centered on an overdriven electric guitar, which serves as the primary melodic and soloing voice, anchored by a forceful drum and bass rhythm section. Its ethos is one of raw expression, often extending the traditional 12-bar form into a vehicle for extended instrumental virtuosity. After achieving significant commercial success in the late 1960s and 1970s, its DNA became foundational to hard rock and heavy metal.
