Brazilian Pop

Brazilian Pop

Brazilian pop is the mainstream commercial pop music of Brazil, sung overwhelmingly in Portuguese and produced in S茫o Paulo and Rio de Janeiro for national radio, television and streaming. Distinct from the songwriter-centred tradition of MPB, it favours direct choruses, dance rhythms and star performers, absorbing samba, ax茅, funk carioca, sertanejo and international dance-pop as fashion dictates. From the teen phenomenon *Rouge* through *Anitta* and *Pabllo Vittar*, its leading acts command audiences of tens of millions and periodically carry Portuguese-language hits into the global charts.
