Bro-Country

Bro-Country

Bro-country is the dominant mainstream country style of the 2010s, defined by party-centred songs about trucks, dirt roads, beer, rural pride and women in cut-off jeans, delivered over polished production that fuses country with hard rock, pop and hip hop. Its commercial template was set by *Florida Georgia Line*'s "Cruise" (2012) and the albums of *Luke Bryan*, *Jason Aldean* and *Sam Hunt*, whose rhythmic, talk-sung verses and stadium choruses displaced the previous decade's heartland rock. Critics coined the name pejoratively, but the style defined country's commercial centre for most of the decade.
