Cajun

Cajun music is the traditional music of the French-speaking Acadians of southwest Louisiana, built on the diatonic accordion and the fiddle, with guitar, triangle and, in modern bands, drums and bass. Its repertory divides between two-steps and waltzes, sung in Louisiana French, carrying dance music, ballads and blues feeling in equal measure. Recorded from 1928, when *Joseph Falcon* cut "Allons 脿 Lafayette", the style was re-energised after the Second World War by *Iry LeJeune*, carried into a cultural renaissance by *The Balfa Brothers*, and modernised by *BeauSoleil* under *Michael Doucet*.
