Chilean Music

Chilean Music is the recorded music of Chile across its folk, popular and art traditions. Its recognised core runs from the folk revival and research of *Violeta Parra* and the nueva canci贸n movement of *V铆ctor Jara*, *Quilapay煤n* and *Inti-Illimani*, through the Andean fusion of *Los Jaivas* and the rock and pop of *Los Prisioneros*, *Los Tres* and *La Ley*, to contemporary figures working in pop, hip hop and indie idioms. Traditional forms such as the cueca and tonada, the influence of Andean instruments, and a strong tradition of politically engaged songwriting recur across otherwise distinct styles and periods.
