Coke Rap

Coke Rap

Coke rap is a subgenre of hip hop whose subject is the cocaine trade itself: sourcing, cutting, transporting and selling, and the money, status and paranoia that follow. Its narrators write as participants rather than observers, filling verses with logistical detail — weights, prices, supply routes, surveillance — that separates the style from the broader threats of gangsta rap and the organizational mythology of mafioso rap. The writing favors dense, cinematic storytelling and technical lyricism, and its landmark records, from *Raekwon*'s "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..." to *Clipse*'s "Hell Hath No Fury", treat the drug economy as both subject and moral trap.
