Comfy synth

Comfy synth is a microgenre of electronic music that emerged around 2019 as a gentle, whimsical offshoot of dungeon synth. Where its parent trades in medieval darkness, comfy synth favors warmth and domestic coziness: soft synth pads, music-box tones, harp and piano figures, and field recordings of rain, birdsong and village life. Pioneered by anonymous home-recording projects including *Grandma's Cottage*, whose self-titled 2019 cassette founded the style, and *Tiny Mouse* and *Hole Dweller*, it circulates mainly through Bandcamp and cassette labels as a deliberately innocent, nostalgic antidote to dungeon synth's gloom.
