Complextro

Complextro

Complextro is a style of electro house that flourished in the early 2010s, defined by glitchy, densely edited basslines and textures assembled from many instruments cut against one another in quick succession. Where mainstream electro house favoured a single riff, complextro tracks change timbre every few beats, importing the sound design of dubstep and brostep, the melodic chipsounds of video-game music and the maximalism of blog-era electronic pop. The term — a portmanteau of "complex" and "electro" — was coined around 2010 by the American producer *Porter Robinson* to describe his own early singles.
