Corrido tumbado

Corrido tumbado is the Mexican regional style created in the late 2010s when young Mexican and Mexican-American musicians fused the traditional corrido with American trap and hip hop. *Natanael Cano*, who named the movement with his 2019 album "Corridos Tumbados", fronts small ensembles of requinto and acoustic guitars, tololoche bass and charchetas whose playing retains the corrido's narrative song form, while the singing and subject matter adopt trap's phrasing, slang and stance. Carried by *Peso Pluma*, *Junior H* and *Fuerza Regida*, it became the dominant sound of música mexicana in the 2020s.
