Cosmic Drone

Cosmic drone is a strain of drone music oriented toward outer space: monolithic, slowly modulating tones from guitar, synthesizer and processed sources are sustained at length until harmonic beating and overtones become the music's principal events. Practised within the psychedelic underground by *Expo '70*, *Tuluum Shimmering* and *Kandodo*, it treats deep space as both subject and acoustic model, favouring sub-bass weight, shimmering upper partials and a deliberate suspension of pulse, melody and development in favour of immersion in a single vast sonority.
