Country Rap (Hick Hop)

Country rap, also called hick hop, is a fusion of country music and hip hop in which rapped verses and programmed beats carry rural subject matter: back roads, trucks, field parties and small-town work. *Bubba Sparxxx* brought the form to a major label with "Dark Days, Bright Nights" (2001) and "Deliverance" (2003), and *Colt Ford* built its dedicated market after 2008 with "Ride Through the Country". Sung country hooks alternate with the verses over banjo, fiddle and guitar figures set against trap-weight drums and 808 bass.
