Crunkcore

Crunkcore is a fusion style that emerged in the United States in the late 2000s within the internet-driven 'scene' subculture, combining crunk and pop-rap with screamed vocals borrowed from screamo and metalcore. Tracks are built from synthesized hip-hop beats, Auto-Tuned singing and rapping, and abrupt shifts into harsh screaming over electronic dance breakdowns, usually without live guitars. Lyrics concentrate on partying, drinking and provocation, delivered with deliberate juvenility. The style was distributed primarily through social media, above all MySpace, and was embodied by *Brokencyde*, whose records made it the most commercially visible and critically derided offshoot of the scene era.
