Cumbia colombiana

Cumbia colombiana is the original Colombian form of cumbia, born on the country's Caribbean coast from the meeting of Indigenous, African and Spanish cultures. Its classic sound combines the gaita flutes and millo of Indigenous tradition with African drums, alegre, llamador and tambora, and the clarinet-led big bands and accordion orchestras that later popularized it. Bandleaders *Lucho Berm煤dez* and *Pacho Gal谩n*, accordion kings such as *Andr茅s Landero* and singers like *Toto la Momposina* define its canon, heard on records from "La Verdolaga" to the #Discos Fuentes# catalog.
