Dancefloor Drum and Bass

Dancefloor Drum and Bass

Dancefloor drum and bass is the melodic, festival-facing branch of drum and bass that emerged in the late 2000s, taking the punchy drums and reese bass of jump-up and adding prominent synthesizer leads, euphoric chords and, frequently, full sung vocals. Tempos sit near 174 BPM, arrangements follow a pop logic of builds, drops and choruses, and production is polished for large rooms and main stages. Australian band *Pendulum* opened the path with a rock-infused stadium sound, and producers such as *Sub Focus*, *Netsky* and *Wilkinson* turned the style into drum and bass's commercial centre of gravity.
