Dark Plugg

Dark plugg, also called evil plugg or DMV plugg, is a subgenre of plugg that emerged in the Washington, D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area in the late 2010s, replacing plugg's dreamy, melodic atmosphere with a nocturnal palette of ominous synth pads, cold bells, choir samples and sparse, menacing leads over plugg's characteristic drum patterns. Its rappers favour off-beat, punch-in-heavy deliveries derived from the DMV flow, narrating violent street subject matter in the space the production leaves open. The style was pioneered by the rapper *Slimesito* and the producer *Fluhkunxhkos*, and was carried nationally by *Glokk40Spaz* and *OsamaSon*.
