Deep Drum and Bass

Deep drum and bass is the introspective wing of drum and bass, favouring rolling breakbeats, warm sub-bass and extended harmonic and atmospheric development over jump-up aggression. Producers such as *Calibre*, *Seba* and *Lenzman* build tracks from jazz and soul harmony, dub space and minimal, carefully voiced drums, often at the genre's lower emotional register: melancholy, reflective, nocturnal. The style descends from the atmospheric jungle of *LTJ Bukem*'s #Good Looking# label and the liquid funk of the 2000s, and is sustained by labels such as #Signature#, #Soul:r# and #Metalheadz# as drum and bass's album-oriented listening music.
