Digicore

Digicore is an internet-born microgenre of hip hop and electronic music that coalesced in the late 2010s within online communities on SoundCloud and Discord. Its sound fuses the melodic, pitch-shifted vocals and maximalist synthesis of hyperpop with trap drum programming, the confessional writing of emo rap, and elements drawn from plugg, cloud rap, and nightcore. Tracks are typically short, densely layered, and produced entirely in digital audio workstations, with abrupt shifts in tempo, timbre, and mood. Digicore is defined less by a fixed template than by a shared generational milieu: teenage, bedroom-based producers treating genre boundaries as permeable and collaboration as a networked, platform-native practice.
