Dobrado

Dobrado

Dobrado is a Brazilian march genre for wind band, the principal parade and ceremonial form of the country's bandas de m煤sica, performed at roughly 110 to 112 steps per minute. Written in duple time in multi-strain form with a contrasting, more lyrical trio, dobrados are played by municipal, military, police and fire-brigade bands at civic feasts, processions, funerals and official ceremonies. The genre's repertory was codified around 1900 by bandmaster-composers such as *Anacleto de Medeiros*, founder of Rio de Janeiro's Fire Brigade band, and remains the working ceremonial music of Brazilian town bands.
