Doomcore

Doomcore

Doomcore is a slow, dark microgenre of hardcore techno, defined by tempos around 130 to 160 BPM where gabber normally runs far faster, cavernous reverberation, thick distorted basslines and funereal synth pads. It descends from the slow, heavy, minimal hardcore produced in Frankfurt by *Marc Acardipane*'s #Planet Core Productions# in the early 1990s, a sound retrospectively named darkcore or doomcore. Revived in Hamburg by *Low Entropy* and his #Doomcore Records# from 2012, it trades hardcore's aggression for dread, building tracks that feel like techno heard through a crypt.
