Doomjazz

Doomjazz is the heavy, drone-weighted wing of dark jazz, in which the instrumentation of jazz, brushed drums, double bass, saxophone and vibraphone, is slowed to the pace of doom metal and saturated with dark ambient and electronic dread. The term is carried by *The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation*, the improvising alter ego of *The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble*, whose records pursue weight and suffocating atmosphere over melodic development. Where dark jazz keeps a noir polish, doomjazz favours distorted low end, funereal tempos and horror imagery, treating each piece as a slowly collapsing soundscape.
