Drumfunk

Drumfunk is a drum and bass subgenre devoted to the drum break itself: tracks are built from intricately chopped and rearranged funk breaks, edited hit by hit in the manner of 1990s jungle's most surgical producers, with minimal melodic or bassline content around them. The term comes from a track by *Paradox*, the style's central figure, whose labels #Paradox Music# and #Outsider# anchored a small, devoted scene in the 2000s. Practitioners including *Fanu*, *Breakage*, *Seba* and the prolific *dgoHn* treat breakbeat editing as an end in itself rather than a dancefloor tool.
