Dutch House

Dutch House

Dutch house, widely known as dirty Dutch, is a style of electro house developed in the Netherlands in the late 2000s by *Chuckie*, *Afrojack* and *Sidney Samson*. It is defined by squealing, portamento lead synths pitched high over heavy four-on-the-floor kicks, dense layers of Latin and tribal percussion, and breakdowns built around siren-like risers and vocal chops. Tracks such as "Riverside" and "Take Over Control" exported the sound to festival main stages worldwide, where its abrasive, maximalist design became a foundation of EDM-era big room and influenced the generation of *Hardwell* and *R3hab*.
