Electric Texas Blues

Electric Texas blues is the Texas branch of electric blues, centered on the lead guitar and distinguished by a lighter, more melodic single-note style than the ensemble-driven Chicago variant. Developed from the state's acoustic tradition by *T-Bone Walker*, whose amplified, jazz-inflected phrasing in the 1940s set the template, it favors swing and shuffle rhythms, prominent guitar solos that answer the vocal line, and comparatively clean, clear singing. Houston's recording industry and later the Austin club scene sustained the style, which favors virtuosity and tone — often a Fender Stratocaster — over harmonic complexity.
