Electro Swing

Electro Swing

Electro swing fuses 1920s-1940s swing jazz with house, hip-hop and EDM production, sampling or recreating big-band brass, clarinet and stride piano over four-on-the-floor beats. Austrian producer *Parov Stelar* pioneered the style in the mid-2000s, and French group *Caravan Palace* and Dutch singer *Caro Emerald* brought it to European chart success around 2010. The genre spans sample-based club tracks, full live bands in vintage dress, and a retro party culture of swing dances and speakeasy nights. Its sound is defined by the friction between scratchy archival recordings and clean modern low end.
