Electronic Rock

Electronic rock is the fusion field in which rock musicians build their sound on electronic production: sequencers, synthesisers, samplers and drum machines integrated with guitars, live drums and song structures. It spans *Gary Numan*'s synthesiser-led new wave, the industrial rock of *Nine Inch Nails*, the big beat rock of *The Prodigy* and the art-rock electronics of *Radiohead*'s "Kid A". The term describes a method more than a single scene: rock's verse-chorus forms and stage energy delivered through the timbres, editing and repetition of electronic music, from 1970s experiments to the indie-electronic mainstream.
