Euro House

Euro house is the continental European strain of house music that crystallised around 1989–1993, when producers in Italy, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands fused Chicago house rhythms with Italo disco melody, hi-NRG energy and the rap-and-chorus formula of Eurodance. Its records are built for maximum immediacy: a four-to-the-floor kick at roughly 120–130 BPM, bright piano or synth riffs, a rapped male verse and a sung female chorus. Acts such as *Black Box*, *Technotronic* and *Snap!* took the formula to the top of international charts, making Euro house the commercial face of European dance music in the early 1990s.
