Euro Trance

Euro trance is the commercial, vocal-led trance style that dominated European charts and clubs between roughly 1998 and 2003. Producers in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy shortened trance's long builds into radio-length songs: supersaw leads, euphoric chord progressions and sung hooks over a driving four-on-the-floor beat. Acts such as *ATB*, *Alice Deejay*, *Darude*, *Lasgo* and *Ian Van Dahl* scored mainstream hits across the continent, and labels including #Spinnin'# and #Violent Records# packaged the sound for mass audiences. It marks the point where trance fully merged with European pop and eurodance.
