Eurodance

Eurodance is a form of European dance-pop that dominated continental charts in the first half of the 1990s, combining elements of house, techno, euro-disco and Hi-NRG. Its standard formula sets a rapped male verse against a sung, anthemic female chorus over a four-on-the-floor beat at roughly 110–150 BPM, with bright synthesizer riffs and piano chords. Produced largely in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Scandinavia, acts such as *2 Unlimited*, *Culture Beat*, *Haddaway* and *Aqua* made eurodance one of the decade's defining commercial sounds before it gave way to trance and later EDM.
