European Music

European music, as a registry category, gathers the continent's folk traditions and their modern revivals: Celtic music from Ireland and Scotland, Portuguese fado, Andalusian flamenco, Balkan brass and polyphony, Nordic fiddle music and Mediterranean song. It is an umbrella for regional practices united by village and ritual roots, distinctive local instruments and repertoires preserved orally for centuries. Representative artists range from *The Chieftains* and *Am谩lia Rodrigues* to *Le Myst猫re des Voix Bulgares* and *Taraf de Ha茂douks*, many of whom carried local traditions to international audiences from the 1970s onward.
