Flashcore

Flashcore is an experimental style of hardcore techno developed in France from the late 1990s by *La Peste* and the label #Hangars Liquides#. It fuses speedcore and industrial hardcore with the detail of IDM and electroacoustic music: tracks abandon fixed tempo and the four-on-the-floor grid, using short pitch-decaying kicks, fractal rhythmic cells and dense synthetic textures in structures that are deliberately undanceable. Conceived as immersive, trance-inducing sound for high-powered systems and strobe-lit rooms, flashcore was codified in a label manifesto and remains a small, technically demanding field practised by producers including *Atomhead* and *Neurocore*.
