Footwork Jungle

Footwork Jungle

Footwork jungle is a hybrid club music that splices the rhythmic language of Chicago footwork — syncopated 160 BPM patterns, sub-bass pulses, chopped vocal samples and empty space — with the chopped Amen breaks, dark basslines and rave signifiers of British jungle. Tracks typically run footwork's triplet kicks and toms against rolling breakbeats at the shared tempo of the two styles. The fusion was named and codified in the early 2010s by British producers reworking footwork for the UK's breakbeat continuum, and it became a central sound of the 2020s jungle revival in British clubs.
